Asana Cave at the western base of Sigiriya Rock Fortress in Sri Lanka takes its name from the seat (Asana) carved from the solid bedrock interior of the cave. It was originally constructed for meditating monks when Sigiriya Rock was a monastery prior to the King Kassapa period (479 to 485 A.D.).
