White utility poles on White Pole Road Scenic Byway. This 26-mile route, located between Adair and Dexter, along old U.S. Highway 6, was formerly part of the route known as the Great White Way, which was lined with 700 white painted telephone poles. This byway is a piece of transportation history linking “five small towns” and events from wagon times and train robberies to present day.

He's been painting the rock since 1999. This side of the 2021 version commemorates Private First Class Oscar P. Austin a Vietnam veteran who received the Medal of Honor posthumously for heroism and sacrifice of his own life in Vietnam in February 1969..

He's been painting the rock since 1999. This side of the 2021 version commemorates John Lincoln Clem, also known as Johnny Shiloh. He was a United States Army general who served as a drummer boy in the Union Army in the American Civil War. He gained fame for his bravery on the battlefield, becoming the youngest noncommissioned officer in Army history.
